Originally a fishing village Moraira is a lovely small town with cobbled streets full of restaurants, little boutiques and with a beautiful marina, to eat the catch of the day. Inf fact, the resort is known as 'The Jewel of the Costa Blanca'. The mild temperature during the winter months makes a perfect winter break, with 'wall to wall sunshine' during the summer periods. Moraira is free of the high rise developments and package tourism.
Moraira has four beaches, each very different in character from the others, The beach of El Portet is the northernmost of these being situation at the end of a sheltered shell-shaped bay, quiet with clear water and a gently sloping seabed, being ideal and safe for swimming. The town beach, or L'Ampolla, is a large sandy beach with a play area and restaurants. The 'Blue Flag' beaches are safe and the bigger beaches all have life guards.
The weekly market is held on a Friday morning on the main town car park. The area hosts a number of large festivals details of which can be found at the local tourist information office in Moraira.
There are several children's playgrounds dotted around the town in addition to a great fun fair, which operates in the evenings. Both tennis and a 9 hole golf course are available for use in Moraira plus water sports, boat hire/ trips, horse riding, go - karting and mini golf are also close by.
Moraira boasts 325 sunny days each year & average temperature of over 20 degrees C.
This is Northern costa Blanca has one of the finest climates found anywhere, and the EU has awarded many of the beaches in the area the prestigious 'blue flag' for water quality and cleanliness several years running.
The coast is dotted with an unspoilt Spanish villages and resorts, popular with holiday makers and residents looking for the more relaxing side of Spain.
In Benidorm there is the Terra Mitica theme park, Aqualandia Water Park and Mundomar Sealife Park. Benidorm Palace is worth a visit for an enjoyable night out.
The local wine from the Jalon Valley is an absolute must.
Moraira and its neighbouring towns hold many fiestas over summer, as well as facilities for all water sports (jet ski, pedalo, kayak, etc.) boat hire/ trips and horse - riding. The whole area is ideal for those who enjoy walking cycling and climbing.
Alicante and Valencia cities both lie within an easy car ride along the coast in either direction or take a train which can be caught from Teulada. Valencia in particular also offers an Aquarium, Museum and public attractions, as well as historical places of interest.
